Post Install Problems (I think)

Here is the deal, during testing and debugging, my program works just fine. So, I build the Setup and Deployment Setup.exe and run it on the same machine. Then I will run the program. When I get to a certain part in the application, the program hangs. Each time it hangs, it is at an I/O section of code. What I am wondering is this ... is the setup going wrong? I have done all that MS has written. I am running .NET 2002, with the Framework installed on the local machine. I assume (quite a lot) that the Bootstrapper plug in for VS 2003 won't help me out too much with my 2002 edition.
On top of all this, finding information on setup and deployment projects has been difficult for me. I have looked at a few sites here and there that have minimal information, so if anyone has a useful site for someone extremely new to these projects, I will welcome them all.
