Default DirectX SDK for VB6

Hi there!

Say, the link for the DirectX7 SDK has been dead for a while now, but I noticed I can't find a link to the 8.1 version either
I just downloaded it onto another PC about a month ago (fortunately) so I have the files. Could never find a host (or book) for the DX7 one (VB not C++)

Did I totally miss it on MSDN?? Is this one more nudge twoard .NET?

Also, a side question- should I bother getting Visual Basic.NET by itself? If so what version? (i.e. Professional, Standard, Enterprise...)

I thought about getting VB.NET on it's own vs the entire studio, but then I would miss out on possibly learning C# (I hear great things about it)

It's kind of a money issue at the moment. I could probably afford to get VB.NET by itself a lot sooner than the entire Visual Studio.

Any thoughts/feedback is welcome.

Thanks

Max.

It's not a nudge it's a bulldozer!

It's good you have the DirectX 8.1 SDK install file. Make many many backups and keep it in a safe place because I doubt you'll ever see it on any Microsoft download page ever again.

This was the old link (NOT WORKING):
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...81SDK_FULL.exe

The 8.1 redistributable link still works though (for now):
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...DX81Redist.exe

For others who haven't gotten it yet, NOW is the time if you have any plans to use VB6 with Directx 8.1 anytime in the future.

Note for dial-up users: this is a 166MB file!

Posted some active download links in this DirectX thread:
