I need to send or receive audio to Modem Phone line through my Visual Basic Application. We know that it is impossible for normal Modems. So the Voice Modem came into Market. But now can somebody tell me that how we can control this functionality in voice Modem from VB.

For example, lets say I play a wave file, so now how I will send it to Modem Port to route to the Phone line. One easy way I guess is that connect the external Sound Card SpeakerOut to the VoiceMOdem AudioInput.

But I think there should be a way to get to voice modem directly without any external connections. This is a very normal use of voice modems as in Answering Machine etc..

I think this might be rather complex.... My dads just bought himself a new book on sending voice over IP, and granted he's doing it from a hardware point of view, being the awkward bloke he is, but it looks immensely complex. You might be better off searching for a DLL or OCX that would do it for you, cos I think this is gonna be a C or C++ issue.
As an after though, sending the wav file and playing it at the other end is not an option?

But then how these application like Answering Machines are working, playing greetings and even recording the messages through Modem. I can see there are a lot of apllications available in Market and these should be doing not that Complex.

Wow, that was really interesting piece of code. Anyone know if there anything like that but let use lisen to dial tone. Something like

"Hello, if you would like accitance, Press 1. If you would like to dial by name press 2."

That would be so neat... Just some source or some tutorial on it would be great.
