Did you click on the " Watch the name announcement for Windows Vista" button?
Good grief...

but I with Bob. I have a spare machine here that will serve as a .NET 2 webserver so I figure I'll give Vista a go next week.

I was thinking of posting just this question yesterday, but I decided that the news for that day pretty much covered it. There were like 3 out of 20+ articles that didn't have that in the headline.

I actually had to send a screenshot of that to a few friends yesterday, EVERY news article on the right side of the index was about the name.

If you have an MSDN Operating System or higer subscription or if you are one of the beta testers Vista and IE7 are available for download.
I have IE 7 installed and I must say I am sure glad to get rid of Firefox. Tabbed browing works as it should with having to install a buggy extension.
I'm downloading Vista, 2Gig plus download and have Server version qued for download. Looks like a late night getting then installed.

I think its a horrible name. Microsoft is looking at a ton of lawsuits due to other software companies using the name 'Vista'

I think they should stay with the 2 number/letter name, in my opinion Windows VI sounds better than Windows Vista, or anything else that comes to mind does.

I must say I agree with "more people", Vista has an odd ring to it. I understand the decision to move away from 2-letter/number labels (not saying I like the decision, but I understand it)... but the word "vista" seems quite bland, somehow. Might just be a matter of getting used to, I guess. Anyway, it's not like people are going to base their OS decision on the name, is it?

Have you ever heard someone describe a software as "confident" before? I don't want my OS to be confident, I wan't it to be obedient! But I guess that would spoil the alliteration...

It's not that I don't like the name, but the new name doesn't make me think of an OS... "Vista" doesn't sound right for an operating system, it's more a name for a new type of windscreen wipers...

Well I quite like the idea of calling an OS something like view. Todays OS have so many functions you can't access directly that a little more visibility would be nice.

To be honest I don't care about the name as such, the thing itself should function properly.
