Processes

I'm in need of someone to explain to me processes and threads..

This application I have written is used by a couple of people and one of them mentioned to me today that when he looked at what was running on his computer it showed my application as running 5 threads. What does that actually mean 5 threads?? Is there a way or a program I can use to see what the 5 threads area???

Any help on this would be appreciated...
