Question Database help

I want to add a field to my table at run time that is merely an exact copy of a field aready found in the table. And I only want to run this once. Does anyone know how I might go about doing this?

Default Re: Database help

What database software are you using?

Also, just to clarify, you want to:
- Create a new field in your database of the same data type as an existing field (say Fld1)
- Copy the value from Fld1 to the new field for all existing rows in the database ?

When you say you only want to run this once -- do you mean that on insert and update, the new field should be automatically adjusted to the new value? Or are the two steps above sufficient for what you need?
