I am using visual studio 2008, VB and I have a project that uses odbc to connect to a mysql database and it works great.

I now have to create same job on a Windows CE device and all of my odbc commands are underlined with a message odbc command not defined.

Do i have to reference something to make the odbc commands accepted? I did not have to reference anything when i created a windows forms application.

I don't think windows ce supports odbc.

After hearing that ODBC is not available to me, and everything i read so far sais if i want to use sql i have to load the sql tables on my device (i don't know if that is true but i found a couple articles saying that)

what is my recourse for a ce device that is collecting data? sending it to a server application to have it written to a database? that sounds a little archaic. But is this the normal thing to do? what is the common practice?
