How is it going to be "judged"? I know its not a competition, but i was wondering if there was going to be a ranking system, like the maze challenge. Then again, the maze lent itself to ranking, where this doesnt really. Just wondering.

As indicated in the announcement, there is no judging. Some people may leave some feedback in here letting you know what they think of your program.
The most important thing is to challenge yourself. Take the basic idea that we present to you and run with it. Start to think of new and interesting things you can add to the program and be creative. This is also to give people something interesting to do with their spare time and an opportunity to show their programming skills to the everyone else.

If it was so simple then why doesn't your entry work, why can't I specify something like 13:55, etc...
Squidge: I couldn't get yours to work either. How do you set it to go off at something like 5:00 pm?
You guys shouldn't be treating this as a race, instead you should be concentrating on challenging yourself as well as making a fully functional program, with comments, and what you would consider to be a nice interface.

You didn't rush it? I find that a little difficult to believe because of the following reasons:
- it doesn't work, not with any of the three alarm types
- The form looks like the following:
Alarm Set for - sound
Type of alarm - 17:43:00
- the am/pm part of the label is only partially visible
- when exiting the application it doesn't close all the forms and therefore stays open
- no Option Explicit in Form2
- I didn't find a single control which had a meaningful name (IE: lblTime instead of Label1)
- There is one comment in the whole thing, and it is to tell us who wrote it

Being as it has this many problems, I stopped looking at it right there.
I am glad to see people posting their projects early in the month, that shows me it was a good idea and that people are interested in it. I only as that they put some effort into making it work correctly, look decent, and have the code documented.

No you don't need to wait until the challenge is over. Feel free to download any of the entries you find and leave feedback for the people who wrote them. This is one of the differences between a contest and a challenge. Leaving feedback for people will also make it more likely for them to try another a future challenge.

i feel what you said there orbity was totally wrong, i'm sorry but u might not think it but work has gone into that progect and the things you have said dont exist its a 24 hour clock so how can there be an am/pm
The form looks like the following:
Alarm Set for - sound
Type of alarm - 17:43:00
that also is wrong
might not think it orbity but were not all as good as you are i put a good effort into that
ps - i thought the idea is so you can give us feeback tell us where we have gone wrong etc

I should enter this month (forgot to finish last months), should be pretty easy considering the only thing that can wake me up every morning is my VB alarm clock app going off playing the sounds of explosions from some FPS game.

I will let the screen shot speak for itself. See attached.
I am in no way trying to put you down as indicated in the reply to the pm you sent me. Please refer to it for further explination.
Regarding your PS: That is exactly what I was doing, I'm sorry if you felt I was putting you down, that was not my intention.

Orbity: I keep forgetting that its not a contest (doh). Anyway, the reason why I said that is because most of the time, someone will respond to the errors way before the challenge is over (you provide a nice example). If there are no errors and the coder hasn't heard a response (thus asks), than others (such as myself) will generally comment on it saying what they liked/disliked.

I'm on win2k and the am/pm thing as you can slightly see in the screenshot is almost completely covered by other controls.
Don't forget the other problems I mentioned too, especially the one with the program not closing completely (that is pretty easy to fix but could cause severe problems).
