Default Caller Id

I have asked this question before without getting an answer so I am posting it again hoping that someone new on the board my have the solution.
I have written a VB6 program that identifies incoming telephone calls while I am on my computer. It extracts the information that is transmitted after the first telephone ring which contains the caller Id information. IF I try to go on-line I receive a message that the port is already open and I can't get on-line unless I end my Caller ID program. If I am on-line and try to start my CID I get the same message that the port is already open. Faxtalk has a free trial program called "Net on hold" that works on my computer so I know everything is OK with my computer ,modem and telephone setup. How do I allow two programs to use the same port ?? Is there a command in VB6 that will allow me to use my CID program while I am on-line or is Faxtalk using a proprietary command to solve this problem??
