Default O Exhalted One

Just a quick note...

Is there any reason that you guys are noted as an "Exhalted One" instead of the proper spelling "Exalted One"?

Sorry to be picky... I was just wondering.

We moderators were debating that recently. Most dictionarys use EXALTED as you say, but I can find examples on the web of EXHALTED. I thought at first that it was a brit vs american spelling, it still might be, but I'm thinking now that it is more likely to be an archaic spelling.

I think it should be exalted... I am from Australia, and I have never seen it spelt with an "h" anywhere. Where did you find it on the web? Was it prominent, or could it have been a mistake too?

I just did a google search for "exhalted". Here is one quote I found which is kind of interesting because it has both spellings in the same sentence....

In Praise of the Khalsa

It is through them that I h've won battles, through their favor that I've distributed bounties to the poor. It is through them that all my sins and sorrows are over, through their favor that my house is overflowing with material possessions. Through their kindness, I've gathered knowledge and all my enemies I have smothered. I'm exhalted, for they have exalted me, else there were many a poor one like me, wandering luckless and friendless.

Guru Gobind Singh (from 33 Swaiyas)

As I said, I'm beginning to think that Exhalted is an archaic spelling...

Exhalted doesn't appear in the Merriam-Webster OnLine Dictionary, but to be totally honest, I never noticed it. I'd be curious about the creator's input on this (too much D&D as a kid maybe?)...

I've always wondered, how do you stay awake/online/onvbforum 24 hours a day? every single time I log on, whether it's 6 am in the morning or 12 pm at night, you have been here, except for one instance where you logged on 5 minutes later
Edited by Keltus on 08/14/01 09:12 PM.

I'm curious to know where Thinker was all this time. I believe he (you) joined us in July.

Robby, are you asking where I was before July or where I have been
since I joined?

If I had known about this forum a year earlier I would
have been here. I was really lucky, following links one day, to stumble
across Extreme-VB.net and then on to here.

I am another self-employeed contractor (like yourself), who recently
completed an open-ended contract (took 4 years) which involved about
250 extra miles (400km) of driving every week. I was totally burned
out. I decided not to try finding new work for awhile and concentrate
on completing my Micosoft Certified Solution Developer cert.

However, it is much more fun solving VB puzzles and answering
questions than studying SQL Server (my final test.)

Hope this answers your question.

Good answer. I found out about this site pretty much the same way. I used to answer more questions earlier this year than I do now. Since I work from home, I'm on the PC 16 hrs per day. I come on this site to wind down and just get ideas. I used to participate on a couple of other sites, past tense. Never went back.

You're all great. Thanks
