you might go to planetsourcecode or other such sites and see what all people have written and see what appeals to you to gain some experience in and/or improve on.

planetsourcecode is cool; try making a calculator, or try practicing with variables; like declaring them, the recalling them and displaying their contents.

Like I posted to another question like yours, I made a utilities app that I add to every once in awhile. Its got about 30 different things in it now (and to think it started only to save a few mouse clicks). Some are/were hard, some were easy to do.
Or get something from PSC like everyone says, and tweak it to make it better or more personal or whatever.

An address book might work, but it sounds a little too simple. Any ideas for some nice features or additional things I could add to it to make it a little more challenging?

Well, you could make a simple notepad, you could make a thing to calculate gas mileage or travel time.... you could make a screen saver.... there's tons of stuff to do! ... you could even make a web browser!

Well, you can first try to make a maximized black form, and make some picture move to random positions every few ticks of a timer.
Or just have fun with
Form1.PSet(Int(Rnd * Form1.ScaleWidth), Int(Rnd * Form1.ScaleHeight)), vbRed

If that fails, you can always grab a permanent marker and get artistic with your monitor.

Most fun is with Random numbers. I did one program i loved and clicked on it a lot, it made up a number 1-6 ; 100 times and then i had chart lbl1 lbl2 lbl3 and so on and then in the end i wrote in each label how many times ( from 100 ) the number came up. hehe
Basically it was always almost the same :-s always numbers btw 12-19

Mephisto - Did you remember to call Randomize at the start of your program? Otherwise it would have always been using the same Seed and would always have the same results.

Although, it might have had one of those curves, called a (forgot name, it'll come to me. Maybe Beizer?). You know the ones that are almost like a quadratic equation, only bell-shaped? That might be what happened here...

Default Project Idea

This is the guidelines.

 Choose a project of your liking. It could be a problem from your book or a game.

 The code should show sequence, selection, looping, general procedures and arrays.

 Use comments to increase the readability of your code.

 The interface should be neat and user friendly.

 User should be able to exit from the interface itself.
Please help with ideas, its for a beginning VB class at college.

Thanks
-Dave
