you need to think of something YOU want to do and that will be useful to YOU, otherwise you will likely lose interest, whereas if it really is of interest to you, you will stick with it and learn much more.

I'd say a good start project could be a basic notepad with other useful functions.

Alternately, you could create modules and classes which you will surely implement later, for example a simple debug window.

I made one some time ago when I started learning about classes.

Also, a nice music note learner

(Play with the buttons)

Those are not big projects, but I hope it gives you the idea

Default Need an idea for a program....

Has to involve looping and or arrays... In my programming class we do presentations on each lesson and I am doing looping/arrays... I need to come up with a sample problem and show it to the class and they need to try to make it themselves...Should take no more than 1 hour.... pretty beginning programmers by the way

What about reading a file (comma separated variable, or CSV) into an array and printing it to the main form?

The file could be in the following format:

Name, Street Address, City, State/Province, PostalCode

Use notepad to create the file.

Open the File

Loop through the file, reading the variables into the array. You'll need to maintain a record counter inside the loop.

Close the File

Then Loop through the array, printing the info to the form. Maybe set this print function to a separate command button.

Take a look at the Standards & Practices thread in the tuitors corner. There are currently installments on both looping and on arrays.

Good idea if you're desperate for good grades.
Bad idea if you want the other students to keep talking to you.

How complex does the project have to be??? If it's ony a simple app you need to make then you could create a booking app for a restuarant, a simple maths app to get area, volume values etc.....

Just find a video and create a command button called cmd_Quit.

Code:
Private Sub cmd_Quit() MsgBox "This was made by " 'end it with a name Unload Me End Sub

This seems more like a Random Thoughts topic, but...
For those of us who love programming, every project is cool and fun (well, almost every project)
When I am out of project ideas, and to entertain my son, I make little VB games. Sometimes I copy simple games like Minesweeper, Taipei, Tetravex, Cipher, etc... Minesweeper was the latest one I did. My kid was playing Minesweeper and I said, "that game is OK, but it is so small and cheesy. I can make a better game than that"! So I customized my version with bigger squares (array of command buttons), cool colors, a full-screen "EXPLOSION" when you click a mine, etc.
I don't know how advanced your skills are, but making a decent game, even a simple one, can be a challenge. Just ask the people who did last months coding contest.

Question Ideas for a Tabbed Dialog Ctrl Proj

Hi!

I need to make a program for a beginner class that demonstrates my knowledge of MS Tabbed Dialog Ctrl 6.0 (a program that shows that I can make a basic tabbed dialog). The professor said, "Create an interesting and useful tabbed dialog of your own." I am stuck with what the dialog should do. I mean, what can it offer to the user. What options or controls it should have? Or why would the user go to the tabbed dialog?

I guess I can add it to the programs I previously made...like the one that calculates the future value of the user's investment, or the one that finds a string in a text field.

Thanks

Sorry but "Grade 10 Programming" probably means nothing to anyone else on this forum but you. What kinds of things are you familiar with?
