Address or phone book might work nicely.

Maybe a binary resource compiler

Default Projects -> List Here

I'm curious to see what the general user base is working on. So list your projects here/short description? Could spark some project ideas too!

Project: VBE (Visual Basic Enhancements)

Description: Well, this is basically a collection of class modules that use a hack-around to implement machine code. The class modules are named by what the functions are related to: CMath, CString, et cetera... I have currently replaced about 10-15 intristic functions with faster ones, such as, the replace function, and have implemented about 15 more functions that visual basic lacks/would crawl in pure vb.

I'm creating a 4-program audio management GUI that aims to help catalog your music collection but not control it (all of the current ones seem to control your music, putting restrictions, etc).

well here's an idea of a programme for you to make , something to convert Vb code to html ( with the correct colours for stuff like "Sub" etc )
so that you can paste in to a html programme and make it look like this :
Code:
Private Sub SomeSub() '///some green text Dim something As String End Sub

Hehe, I just think of a program.. anything a chatroom, a game, programming something is a great way to learn a language.. If your building something and you need something done, look it up, and impliment it. Then you can use what you learn on more advanced programs. If your just starting off.. try screwing around in the VB application, try making text appear in textboxes with a button.. learn If statements, then after you seem to have a handle on things try actually making a program. If you really want to have something to make.. dont download programs.. make them Need a music player? Make one! Text Editor? make one! You possiblitys are endless

I've been programming for 3 years now and have only made a handfull of programs that I actually need - such as an Address Book, an Alarm Clock and a really cool Icon and Cursor Creator. However, altogether I've made hundreds of programs just for fun, even though I don't need them - I just thought they'de be interesting to make. For example, I recently learnt how to put icons in the system tray but I had no use for such a feature at the moment, but it seemed a waste to not practice such a thing so I made an animated 'pet' who sits next to the clock and occasionally does amusing things. As I said, there's no use for it and I don't need it, but maybe one day I'll make a program that needs to put icons in the system tray and I'll have my 'pet' as a reference.

In conclusion, I don't make programs based upon what I need, but they are based upon what I think will be fun to do and may be useful sometime in the future .

dynamic sysop, it wasnt nice to tell him to write a program because you were supposed to write one for school and you didnt want to do it so you made him write it. User 2571, ideas , contrary to poular belief DO grow on trees and you just have to learn how to pick them off. Personally, i make programs that i think will be fun to make, like a game. right now im makin an rpg, which i think is fun. it really a matter of personal interest, unless you are hired to make something for someone.

one more thing. pick an idea that you will stick to. its better to finish one project than to start 30. just keep that in mind when you are picking an idea.

Lightbulb Game Idea

Ok after much flowing ideas lots of paper, ive sort of come to a decision,

i'm thinking of a game which is semi-multiplayer ok so you train and teach your character offline, then go online to battle others froma round the world.

now i'm looking for your input on this so any suggestions be great and i'm also looking for a graphic artist to work with me. and maybe another programmer (stil thinking about that) but if your interested you need to be good with winsock bitblt and VB in general not expert just Good

anyways all post appriciated....

Does anyone have any ideas for a program that I can make for school? I want to find one with lots of algorithms so that I can find test data for them and desk check them(as that is what we will mainly be marked on).

I am a bit limited though, as my computers at school won't let us add components/references or open projects that contain them(buggy computers).
