Default Do I have to use .Net?

I recently installed Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Beta 2 to create a new version of a little utility I made back in 2000 using VB 6.0.

I had not really researched the new VB version too much, and so I found out that it uses .Net for everything.

Is there anyway to write software in VB 2005 EE which does not require .Net? Or should I go back to 6.0? Thanks!

Nope, VB2005EE uses the .NET framework only.

VB 2005 is a .Net language, everything you do in it requires .Net.

That clears it up Thanks. I will probably leave it as is, since .Net seems to be the way a lot of it is going anyway.

You can tell I have been out of it for a while
