Default Google Sketchup 2.0 Library?

Anyone Looked at the Free Google Sketchup (Semi) Solidmodeler library with VB.NET yet?

I get an error when I try to create an instance of the interop.

I heard through the grapevine that you can access it through C++.

Anyone know if a wrapper could be made in C++ to expose the library to VB.NET?

The product has a built in Ruby interpreter but it can only display one line at a time. No real debugging or other advanced IDE features that I can see.

Been looking into Ruby. Not too impressed with the editors that support it.
Most look clunky to me after using VS.NET. It also appears to be extremely picky about letter case. variables cannot start with an upper case letter, Etc... Yuck.

Never used it, but the video of it makes it look pretty cool.

Oh Yah. It is nothing if not easy to use, but there is a whole lot more hidden away. It has a large toolbar menu you can load that doubles the things you can do out of the box.

Add to that the Sketchup RUBY user group has constructed a ton of free addins. that puts the functionallity over the top.

Works on the MAC and Windows.

Knocked out this simple book shelf in about an hour.

Not bad for a free product.

Nice job with the bookshelf, looks pretty cool.

I would imagine that some day websites will let us draw a 3d object like this, and then they'll send us the result. The fees would be very high, but it would definitely have a market.

Every time I fool with Sketchup, I quit out of frustration. It always ends up doing what I least expect, and when I was last fooling with it (2 months ago) half the documentation was either dead links or "watch this 10 minute video for the one thing you're curious about".

I give it an A for effort but a D for execution.

I hear you. It took me a while to get a handle on how to use it. Just about everything is keyboard driven and there is little to no feedback when you type shortcut keys.

For instance when you drag anything and let go you can still type in the actual desired dimension and the geometry adjusts to the value. This works for all the tools.
[x,y,z] enters a absolute position <x,y,z> enters a relative postion. x,y enters a 2D size say for rectangles. How and when you click and hold down the mouse buttons affects things as well.

It is more of a Surface modeler than a true solids package plus it tessellates all complex surfaces so even circles or arcs are faceted. True tangencies are a major stumbling block for me.

Still all said and done I like it.

AtmaWeapon, Here is a link to a PDF user's guide
Another great resource is the SketchUcation Sketchup Forum
I'd sign up as a member if for nothing else the Ruby Discussion area. (It has scads of plugIns written by members.)

Speaking of which here is a repository for more plug ins.
To add a plugin you usually just deposit it in the ..SketchUp\PlugIns Folder. They are text based files so you can start to get a handle on Ruby and Sketchup if you like.

How come when I dim by object I see all the "members" of the object:

https://designer7777.files.wordpress...tchup-err1.jpg

But when I Set it I see only these "members":

https://designer7777.files.wordpress...tchup-err2.jpg

Then I get this error:

https://designer7777.files.wordpress...tchup-err3.jpg

Even though it is plainly shown as available in the object viewer?

Don't use external links.
Just attach the desired images.
