Heh, Jim, I merged Felix's post into this thread. He didn't reply here originally. That will explain a lot of the other mismatched posts here as well.

Sorry, my bad. I've been under a LOT of stress lately, and I'm only clutching to straws of sanity right now.
I apologise for snapping.

Default making icons

Just had a thought, has anyone got a good suggeastion of a program that can make icons for use with vb. I used to use the one inside the vc++ but i lost that and would prefer something a little better anyway. Another preference would be the idea of it being free. Free things are always better.

Cheers.

Here are a couple of good free icon editors. I use them to make/get icons for my programs.

i have made them in Microsoft paint before
you just have to get the size right

32x32 works for most. you just have to save it as a .ico file instead of .bmp

I have been using PixelToolbox by AxiomX with success.
It does have one disadvantage, which is it can NOT OPEN an icon file.

There's one I found called Paint Express 1.3. It's really quite good....

Thumbs up FauxS-X

I agree with CMG! Check out FauxS-X Project . He has been on TechTV's,
Call4Help, show for his work with icons etc... He also has a small Totorial;
On using CorelDraw to create his Icons. I've just noticed this site here recently;
And I am amazed @ the nice work!

Hey guys, we all use VB.net right? Why don't at least some of us use the built in icon editor? Granted, I couldn't tell you how to get into it, but just open an icon file with vb.net and there's your icon editor. Of course chances are someone already mentioned that...but it's worth a try

Great idea, for those of us using VB.NET (and it is in fact my icon editor of choice). However, the majority of members of this site are not yet using .NET.
